We know that our requirements are very strict and hope it will not discourage your plan on becoming a Foster Home for a horse from DTHR. If you think you have what it takes please get a copy of the Foster Application and join us in making a difference, here in Alabama.

We will do our best to match your wants with the horses needs to create a happy environment for both of you. Fostering a horse also gives you a chance to see if you get along. Foster parents have priority when the animal is ready for adoption.

Zero		Zero is in a permanent foster home due to his medical condition of COPD. He is on allergy shots and albuterol during the summer months.
Casey		Casey is also in a permanent foster home and is Zero's pasture mate. He is on pain medication as well as other supplements. Casey is crippled and enjoys life but supporting Casey is very expensive!
Thelma and Louise		Thelma and Louise are BLM mares and are very slowly adjusting to people. They both were extremely malnourished. They could go to the right home but experience with mustangs is a must.
Dallas		Dallas is believed to be a Paso Fino. She came to DTHR in 2006 and has severe trust issues. We believe she was seriously beaten (she has the mental and physical scars to prove it). Dallas is finally starting to trust her foster mom but has a long way to go.
Tequila		Tequila is Dallas' daughter and is currently in training due to significant behavioral issues. She has finished her first 30 days with a trainer but still has significant issues on the ground.
Dan		Dan is in a permanent foster home. Due to his condition we believe he can not move to a new home. He is 33+ years old now and is happy for every good day.
